Winter

Oh the weather outside is frightful, and the fire is so delightful. But we have got places to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Winter camping is a … memorable … experience. We take December fairly easy, usually with an educational trip of some kind, and in January or February head to the northwoods to see if we can grab the Sub-Zero Hero badge.

If shivering and stumbling don’t sound like fun to you (yet), we also have just one day a year where we not only look the other way but actively solicit Scouts to pick up their phones, turn on their computers, invite their friends from school, and come set up a LAN party at the Electronics Lock-In. For 24 hours we occupy the church basement, acknowledge the digital delights of the modern world, and eventually realize that maybe the wilderness and slow food are pretty nice after all.
