Camping

Three quarters of “Scouting” is “outing”. Scouting is about many things, but the most obvious and regular thing we do is get out of the house, go into a forest, and sleep in the dirt.

We schedule one troop outing each month. You don’t need to attend every single one; we know each family has their own schedule to maintain. Our attendance per outing typically runs between 50—80%, and our attendance per scout typically runs at around 2 outings in 3, especially if they’re an athlete at school. Our outings are almost always from 5:00 PM Friday evening to 12:00 PM Sunday.

It takes a lot of know-how and gear to make a camping trip run smoothly. We are fortunate to have quite a bit of both, but you will need to be able to support yourself at least some of the way. If your family doesn’t own a tent or backpack, the troop has a small equipment library that you can draw upon until you get your own, but you will eventually need your own equipment.
